Avengers: Endgame (2019) (Review/Spoiler)

Song – Led Zeppelin’s ~ ‘Battle of Evermore’

Ferrum Homo, Vindex Quis Moritur ~||~ Iron Man, The Avenger Who Dies

Awh Man! I’ve got huge spoilers here. I believe I waited long enough to really say what I want, so if you didn’t see the film by now, turn away. Let me start by honoring the late great Stan Lee, who we still see a cameo appearance of in the film. His mind was so great in coming up with these Marvel characters. Okay so, personally, I preferred the first part of this 2-part movie; ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ was way better. For me, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ turned out to be what I hoped not to happen. When you set up a mythic problem because you outthought yourself, it becomes a monumental challenge to rethink something plausible. What do I mean, well……. they had setup a big conundrum where Thanos got all the Infinity Stones and now had the kind of power that would make him unstoppable. So we’re thinking about scenarios that might work to defeat him, and after I saw this film, I liked other peoples’ ideas better including my own. While people were busy thinking The Avengers were the only ones that could stop him, I was considering other notable heroes in The Marvel Universe. It would be an entirely different movie if you involved the X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc. since what Thanos did would affect them as well. Of course, there is a mystery being in The Universe people forgot about called The Beyonder, that would have seen the whole thing coming and could single-handedly stop it or just make an event of it using the noblest heroes, him already knowing how it would all end. Plus, I thought as much that the Writers, would need to scale down the might of Thanks’ character in a way so they can defeat him. None of it came off believable to me. The movie came off like how you would expect a corny good guy come-back. If you have all that power, I don’t think you would want to give it up. We are led to believe that Thanos had to destroy the stones to so that he saves himself from being destroyed by them, plus by destroying them, he and all he did prior is inevitable. Well, what’s wrong with this is that he absorbed the jolt of power originally being a Demi-god and was fine using it many times well into the film that our heroes have a way of clocking the last time he used the stones and can pinpoint where in the galaxy he is. So we see a humble looking Thanos living his hobbit-like life until The Avengers crash into him and Thor finally does what he failed to do the first time, aiming for his head. Big deal! Later we see the Mighty Thor being a potbelly, beer drinking couch potato bum. Thanos should not have ended like that. He’s supposed to be on his throne chillin’, but this is good guy must win nonsense when the first time around when it mattered they failed miserably. When the film opened with Iron Man and the camera focused too long on him, all up in his face with the emotional shots, I said to myself, ‘oh no, are you really going to make this about him’. Well, in the first film, Thanos tried to kill him successfully until Doctor Strange gave up his Infinity Stone to save his life. Now you can debate in your mind at what point with which stone or stones Thanos had at any given point of both movies, but for me, while watching the film, and thinking of the movie days after, I still have problems with it. THANOS, SHOULD NOT HAVE LOST! He had all the information to stop them at any point. He would have to voluntarily give up his power for the greater good, and we know that wouldn’t make sense for him. So as I watched this bullshit, I cringed. A quirk of fate, makes it possible for Antman, who was trapped in a storage unit, to escape and come up with the idea of going back in time the way he does, using quark nano-technology. So the Incredible Hulk uses his scientific brain to put together a time machine. Iron Man, who already has a new married family life he does not want to lose, eventually falls sway to the rest of the team to try to stop Thanos in the past. And we are to believe that they are able to do what the greatest scientific minds have been unable to do by precisely creating a time machine on such short notice to end up at precise moments in history and return to the present time safely. Well, even if they were such geniuses, Thanos, being able to see all future scenarios as well, would have seen that coming. The Writers only allowed a little mistake in there where no matter how smart the superheroes were, they neglected to think that a super android was dangerous to send back into the past because anything could go wrong. Nebula got captured and Thanos learned about the time stamp events from the future. Right there, the whole thing should have got shut down with just the couple stones he had, but here, he’s thinking like someone without the power playing games. This allowed Gamora and the future Nebula to teamup. We see a lot of female heroic action until Captain Marvel got punched in her face by Thanos. So to cut a long story short, the one move to save them all was Iron Man offering his life in that epic battle. He got the gauntlet off Thanos and did his own Infinity snap bringing back Black Panther (Ebombeh!), and other previously dead heroes. Then he used the power to get rid of Thanos and his dark legions. Listen man, Thanos did the decimation snap better. Like the Infinity Stones he so-called destroyed, the nano-particles are still in the universe, so you can’t completely eradicate evil. Then we see the funeral of Iron Man, his mortal body being destroyed by the power, and a briefcase filing away of the time machine technology. Ofcouse, Captain America was going to use it to have a romantic life with Agent Carter, why not, it was his only chance. And he gave away his super-action name to a Black guy to be the new Captain America. Hmmm, I would have preferred he had his own super identity. Iron Man didn’t have to die. This idea is coming from a concept of a sacrificed hero, well, it was possible to have done the whole thing where no one needed to die. The movie could have been done better. I remember the reaction the first time around at the end of Part 1 with movie-goers being sad and awe-struck at the end but in wonder and excitement to see Part 2. Now that we got the cookie-cut good-guy ending, the intrigue doesn’t feel the same. It was lacking something; that once and for all tone. If by any chance, I would like to see Thanos and Friends resurrect. Let’s have a proper battle. One with an outcome we can all agree with.

Remembering Veteran Senator John McCain (2019 Memorial Day)

Soldier Track – Metallica’s ‘One’

Dulce Bellum Inexpertis ~||~ War Is Sweet To The Inexperienced

Even after his death battling cancer, our current President, can’t help but take a dig every now and then at deceased American war hero and Senator, John McCain. So what’s the problem here? What did he do? Oh, he got captured. Well doesn’t that happen sometimes. Trump was from the 80s, didn’t the ‘Missing In Action 2’ Star Chuck Norris, playing Colonel Braddock get caught by Colonel Yin in Vietnam and by the end of the movie we see him and his small band of American soldiers battle their way out. And what about Rambo? Look man, you’ve gotta separate fantasy from reality. He’s not Rambo or Braddock doing the kung-fu or using a large machine gun that does not run out of ammo. That’s the real problem here. Trump was never in a real army on a real battle field to realize how that really goes, to be attacking John McCain. It’s easy to criticize. The man endured torture. Eventually his Asian captors realized he was the son of somebody famous during the prisoner negotiation process and began treating him better. They offered to release him first, but John insisted on the lesser privileged soldiers caught with him be let go first. That showed Leadership. I’m sure if it was Trump or his sons, not only would they have been captured too, but they would have insisted on the caviar treatment. After returning to the states, it could have just ended there with the recovery process and a little footnote in history, but he decided to serve his country more by becoming a Politician. Again, he tries to be fair when making political decisions. He ran for President a few times without winning. His most famous run, against Barack Obama where he silenced a racist woman in the audience likening Barack Hussein Obama to a Middle Eastern terrorist. When Obama won, he wasn’t out there carrying on like a fool in the Senate against him, he was busy being a Maverick Republican. But who did we see riling up the masses? It was YOU Mr. Trump. And you finally brought down the prestige of the Oval Office to the level of Reality TV. OH MY! Leave this dead man alone, stop bringing him up in the news taking swipes at Meghan McCain from time to time. He didn’t vote the way you wanted him to in the Senate, or he held out too long and whatever, leave it be. While on his death bed fighting cancer, you could not let it go still. That made him look good to some un-deciders. He’s probably beyond the grave laughing at you. He’s still remembered as an American war hero given the full burial rights despite what you think. As a sitting President, you shouldn’t be saying anything negative. I don’t know why you’re complaining about money you or the government spent in burying him or what favor you think his family owes you. There is a certain decorum expected of a man in your position. Now, I’ll leave the rest of the commentaries to his daughter Meghan McCain and his widow Cindy McCain as they are currently braving Trump attacks from time to time while grieving.

The Go Fund Me Scandal (November 2017)

Magnus Inter Opes Inops ~||~ Poor In The Midst Of Great Riches (Horace)

Playlist ~ Songs About Money

What can I say about this case? well……., it shows how a scam is easier to fund than a perfectly legitimate cause.
This story pops up every once and again in the news on the latest legal event. Well, they need to bury it already, it’s all over. There is NOTHING else they can do to turn this around. So this was a feel good story about a homeless vet who gave his last $20 to help a stranded female fill up her car to get home. And in gratitude, so touched by his help, she & her boyfriend set up a GoFundMe page to raise $10,000 to help him get off the streets. Oh but many people were touched by the story too that they donated their money to help him & they raised over $400k for his cause. The couple were on TV talking about it and all was well until greed set in. Everything was okay as long as everyone shared the wealth as agreed, BUT the couple controlled all the money and so the so-called homeless Veteran, decided to sue. People still felt sorry for him as if he was being victimized when in fact it was all a fraud that went wrong and the truth unraveled. All they had to do was get along, no one would have been the wiser. Now they ended up in an embarrassing legal problem. I feel more sorry for all the people who ever tried using Crowdfunding sites unsuccessfully. I bet there are many good things people need money for, but the effort didn’t quite take as a lie would.

Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) Queen Movie Review

Ne Cede Malis, Sed Contra Audientior
Do Not Yield To Misfortunes, But Go Forth More Boldly To Meet Them (Virgil)
PLAYLIST ~ Music By Queen

Ofcourse somebody would want to make a film about the late great Freddie Mercury. I had mixed feelings over it. ALOT of the info in the movie and timeline is false. It’s a piece of fictional work designed to convey what they wanted you to know about him and the band and there experiences. Well, for something more factual, go look at the many documentaries and interviews online. For the film, they tried very hard to make the Egyptian actor Rami Malek, look, sound and act like him. The real Freddie was a physically bigger man and his striking actions and majestic persona are hard capture. I wasn’t entirely convinced of the performance and I don’t know why Rami Malek was chosen, I was more impressed at the actor’s work at the end of the film when he really came alive on stage as Freddie Mercury at the Live Aid concert. Yes, I expected it to win ALOT of awards, because of some elements in the film, even though critics like myself didn’t fancy it much. At the time when I saw the movie, I wasn’t really happy with it to go write a rave review, but as I continue to think about this man and his work, I have to say something. Prior to the film, the music of Queen for years were in movies, TV shows & commercials, and now AFTER the film, it’s still everywhere arguably as the band with the most hits heard in ads. Now this is a testament to their greatness, the mass commercial appeal as of late. There was a time in my development where Queen was one of the rock bands, I designated a moment of my life consistently listening to. The man was a musical genius. I felt the film focused too much on the gay shit. Some of the dialogue consisted of cheesy faggot comments that made Freddie looked like he was some Rupaul Drag person, when in reality, he carried himself more like a man. He was never out there in the public eye talking like that, seeming like that, or carrying himself like that. In reality, he was masculine, that was why when he died at age 45 in the early 1990s, it shocked people when we heard he lost his life due to complications with AIDs. I remember, it saddened me as a teenager back then the way the news of it was suddenly delivered over the airwaves. I missed him. He died too early. And now, so many years later in the current heyday of the flamboyant gay rights movement, they go and make a movie using HIM & his life to be a part of the gay agenda. If you study Queen, you’d know that Freddie himself when he lived, had no interest in being a point person for the gay movement or a Spokesperson on AIDs. He was a private man who was more mindful about HIS MUSIC. I’d think if you were going to do a movie about him, you’d more concentrate on his musical genius and things that really mattered to him. His lyrics hold philosophical content. He’s a Composer, right up there with Mozart, Bach, etc. Looking at the first half of the film was making me visibly upset with them focusing on homosexuality as if that was the main thing about his life, when other people around him at the time, can account for aspects of his personality being non-gay. In reality, heterosexuality was something he valued that the movie could not deny and had to show in some way since there was a woman he was romantically involved with, that he still loved till the end of his life and he left a great deal of his fortune to her even though she married and moved on. Something happened to Freddie as a young Indian boy born in Zanzibar/Tanzania when his family moved there to flee the Uprising in India. Then he developed as a person in England. We may never know the missing info, but there might be clues out there in cyberspace and alternative media. The movie could have been done better without the gay politics. Now we have content Millennials misunderstanding some things about his life and art as we go on as a society. He’s now a Gay Icon. Oh God! He was never seen as that before though. Nor decades before now, was he dug up and embraced as one of them, even at the time he lived. Some people say he was openly gay at the time, but there is evidence suggesting otherwise. Also, homosexuality (Buggery) was still seen as a crime in Britain in the 1960s. To many Americans & others around the globe, it was either a mental problem, or a vice you engaged in and some of us still think so. And for some, cross-dressing was a look you adopted or played around with, but it didn’t mean you were actually gay or lesbian, or something. And people eventually realized if you were or not. If he was privately exploring or finding himself because of some personal issue and I saw that, I wouldn’t make a film depicting that as the central theme of his life. It was more a gay movie, than an real biopic. There was so much more beyond that and what he never got to do in life. I don’t know how he himself would feel about this film they made about his life. I know though, he would have composed a better film about his story.

CREED II (Review)

Iuvenis Bellator – Young Warrior
(Ferrelux Quote, 3/8/2019)

I liked it. I held off from doing this story right after I saw the film because I wanted to see if it would win an Academy Award so I can include that too in my article, BUT, ‘The Oscars’ snubbed even nominating the movie. I
don’t know why. They deserved attention. I thought the storyline was well written, & had some of the 80s Rocky charm. The film however was appreciated elsewhere and won other awards. Now, some guys thought it was a girl movie, & that it didn’t live up to Creed I, but they’re forgetting the evolvement of The Rocky franchise. You need to show the softer side of a tough guy. This happened with The Rocky movies, and now Creed. Here you had a boxer and his girlfriend committing their relationship further, and then a tragedy happens. History sort of repeats itself when like his father, Apollo Creed, Adonis gets his ass kicked by Viktor Drago to near death, but the referee, who I bet admired his Father’s greatness, stopped the fight leaving Adonis still with his rights to the championship belt intact. When Ivan Drago left Russia with his son Viktor, the agenda was to place Russia back on the map in the boxing world, through his son defeating Rocky’s protégé since Rocky defeated Ivan decades ago in his own homeland. Ofcourse, Rocky was trying to get Adonis to avoid this murderous challenge, barely surviving the onslaught himself back in the day avenging his dead friend Apollo in the movie ‘Rocky IV’, but Adonis could not shun destiny. And so we see a failed Adonis, eventually getting the help he needed from his father-like Coach, Rocky, training out there in God knows where, to gain the strength & skill he needed to withstand Viktor, because his dad trained him to be a killer in the ring. Also, he has a very injured casualty, his daughter, from womb trauma, was born deaf when her mom was in the arena watching in great pain as Adonis endured a vicious beat down by Viktor in the first fight. So we’re dealing with the need to win for vengeance & being the greater fighter. So, yeah, he won the second time around with even the opposing Fight Promoter himself applauding Creed on his victory. It was a great American moment as Russia lost again & Creed also winning the applause & respect of many of the Russians in the crowd. Viktor didn’t expect it, saved by his father telling them to stop the fight. He later consoled his son. At the end of the movie, they still train. What I especially loved towards the end, was Adonis going over to his fathers grave transmitting thoughts as he looked down at it with the famous signature stare of his dad, Apollo Creed.

Farewell George Bush, Sr (41st American President) & First Lady Barbara Bush

Since First Lady Barbara Bush passed away April 17th 2018, it was expected to see her beloved husband pass soon after. Now deceased (Nov 30th 2018), let’s look back and honor former United States of America, President 41, George Herbert Walker Bush on this year’s President’s Day. I miss him. As I watched all the televised funeral ceremonies with them shopping his body around to all the significant sites & the American band themes going, I was slightly thrown back in time for a few days remembering what a presidency was like. Bush Senior was fully in power when I was in high school about 27 years ago, with his reign ending in 1993, in my Junior year. He was handsome from his youth, good student, clean-cut, wholesome values, All-American, ivy league educated, nice military guy, CIA material, well-spoken, prudent, carried himself well as President, & I miss those days. For a one-term President, he felt more like a two-term. He kept the Oval Office DIGNIFIED!!! No reports about lewd sexist male remarks or actions, no treason allegations, no funding fraud, & especially no Nigrish White Trash behavior as we openly see and hear about with our current #45, President Donald J. Trump. You have to understand, I was reminiscing throughout the Bush footage with all the memorable stories. Many of the world leaders & political operatives were there to remember this man. Now look at our Oval Office. It began turning to shit when Bill Clinton won, with the Monica Lewinsky scandal still at play to this day on the airwaves, but Clinton managed to still keep the office semi-stable with some notable accomplishments. Then the country was graced again with ANOTHER George Bush, #43. He was ridiculed for being dumb, & punitive to critics, BUT the man held the country together still in a dignified way. AND THEN…….. There was ‘Black Panther’ Mr. Barack Obama himself, #44. His energy was cool, positive, powerful, & unifying despite what the haters have to say. He was a political Rock Star. The Bush funeral highlighted the end of an era for real. It saddened me. Even in death, The World was able to see that George H. W. Bush was able to powerfully & gracefully get a room filled with people who cared at the funeral & in our homes across the world to come together and reflect on politics and strategize hope for the future.

Aquaman 2018 (Review/Spoiler)

Symbolically released in the I Winter Solstice 12/21/2018, I could not help looking at the Movie Aquaman, without thinking about the Marvel Comics character, The Sub-Mariner (Namor Mckenzie), known by his catch phrase, ‘Imperius Rex’ Latin for Powerful King/Imperial Ruler. He was FIRST in the comic universe in 1938 & Aquaman came about in 1941, with a very similar storyline to Sub-Mariner’s. I like them both, as in a way, they are suppose to be the same guy, BUT if I had to choose one universe, I’d go with Namor, not Arthur. Contrary to the disrespect from comedian & TV night show host, Jimmy Kimmel, using his platform to insult Sub-Mariner, Namor is indeed MORE significant, technically being more powerful than Aquaman, had he bothered to do the research. Kimmel’s only right about one thing, Sub-Mariner apparently have been forgotten about for Marvel films.

Now the Movie, first of all, Jason Mamoa was believable in the part. Long before his casting for something like this, I always thought he would be a good pick back in the day for TV movies or shows like ‘Hercules’,
& ‘Xena’, playing somebody significant & now looky here…….The only thing wrong at times were the corny one-liners in the script. I always liked Aquaman and am glad somebody thought enough of him too to give
the guy a complete movie. Aside from Superman, Batman, & Wonder Woman, he was one of a few DC heroes I found intriguing & mighty growing up viewing ‘The Super Friends’ animation series in all its variations, just like the Marvel Comics. Now, DC Comics was FIRST, but Stan Lee’s Marvel Universe took over the medium so people followed after them. They have way more going on, BUT, I’m proud of DC Comics for hanging in there over the decades with all the Superman & Batman stuff in film & on TV, with the recent millennial Wonder Woman film
& now this latest, Aquaman. The Aquarian make-up/costumes for all the characters were done well. And thecharming storyline was like being led into a nice child-like lullaby as we watch Arthur also experiencing it as he
grows up later realizing it all to be true & his destiny is well within grasp.

Now,….I like villains too. Let’s get that started. I loved the way Black Manta looked in the film, the mystery & power of his presence. I liked him ALOT in the cartoons too & felt that this time around in the film’s debut, he should have been a bit more successful against Aquaman if he’s supposed to be his arch-nemesis. You can’t just prevail slapping him around like that. There are many times in the DC World, Black Manta outsmarts The Semi-Atlantean, getting him in a bind & someone from The Super Powers Team has to rescue him. So I hope if there are sequels to the film, we see that.

And now…… the pure-bred Atlantean heir to the throne, our villain, Ocean Master, ….. what can I say. He had a point. You should want to keep things correct. You just knew how things were going to go with the good wins over evil stuff. That guy was doing the right thing as he was entitled to, but as always, some one, or force works against it. I don’t think he was really a bad guy, and in all reality, given his rights & power should have won & had everyone supporting him, BUT as fate would have it, a half-breed dwelling on The Surface, must be The King & he is quietly being helped by Vulko, who’s character was played superbly well by Veteran actor Willem Dafoe . Yes, so Ocean Master beats Aquaman the first time in the challenge as expected, but Aquaman’s comeback in the end was impressive. And you could see it was destiny to be The Ruler with the Mighty Trident and all.

My only fault with the film was not enough colored Atlanteans in the sea, as that historically & culturally would have made more sense since they’re messing with mythology too. I’d Iike to see in the future some reference to The God Poseidon/Neptune. I mean, really. The movie for me, touched a piece of the pagan past that some of us are so familiar with that it’s not just a film, but a harbinger for what to expect.
